 Children's Ministry

Children are welcome at Colonial Hills United Methodist Church. We look for ways to help children know we love them and that they are important to God and the life of our church.

3-year-olds through 1st grade
9:40–10:30 a.m.  Godly Play: Side-by-side Christian formation experience for 3-year-olds through 1st graders and their parents or grandparents. A time to hear and see the stories of our faith and to wonder how we are part of the story. If parents are already involved in an adult Sunday school class, children can attend without them, but adults are invited to participate. Education Building, Room #7.
10:30– 10:50 a.m.  Joyful Kids: Singing and hand bells. Meet in Education Building, Room #7.

2nd– 5th grade
9:40- 10:00 a.m. TEAM J.C.: Music, imagination, and much more. Education Building, Room #25.
10:00– 10:45 a.m. Explorers: Children will use computers, art, puppets, and drama to learn and assimilate stories of our faith. Resources will be provided to families quarterly so lessons can be learned at home or on Sunday mornings. Parents and grandparents who are not actively involved in an adult Sunday school class are encouraged to attend with their children. Education Building, Rooms #20 – 26.

during 11:00 a.m. worship (after Time for Children)
Age 6 months to 3 years Early Christian Awareness (ECA): Using all of their senses, little children are introduced to the wonder of God’s love. Taught in the nursery.
3-year-olds and older
Second Story: An extra time of faith formation for children age 3 and older (at parents’ discretion). After hearing a Bible story, sharing prayers and songs, children can dig deeper into the story through the use of computers or art. Education Building, Room #24.

Other Opportunities

Acolytes—
Children in 3rd grade and older have an opportunity to help serve during worship by being an acolyte. By bringing the light of Christ into the worship service and taking it out at the end of the service, acolytes remind us all that we, too, must take the light of Christ into the world.
