CHUMC Youth Ministry
"Rooted in Faith, Growing in Love"
Every Sunday in the Back Door:
9:45 am | Sunday School
Our Sr. High class (9th to 12th grade), taught by Becky Schweers. The Jr. High youth (6th to 8th grade), taught by Bonnie and David Ayer.
12:15 to 2:00 pm | United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)
Right after the 11:00 worship service on Sunday, we gather for lunch in the Back Door then start our activities! Activities are either
service-oriented or fun-oriented (although fun pretty much always accompanies service).
We've made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for CAM,
sang for our shut-ins,
wrote cards for soldiers in Afghanistan,
set up our church's Angel Tree,
navigated the Corn Maize,
explored the city on a Road Rally,
swam at Landa Park,
hiked at Eisenhower Park, etc.
Outreach Amplified Rehearsal -- Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m.
God Squad is a praise and drama team led by Matt Evans. This is a great way to be involved in leading worship! God Squad is open to all youth 6th to 12th grade. Absolutely no prior music or theater training is required, just a love for what you do!
Keep your ears open for news of special youth events and church-wide events that the youth participate in or sponsor. For example, we completed the 30 Hour Famine, we manned the sponge throw booth at Family Fiesta, we worshipped with Jeremy Camp, Natalie Grant, Nichole Nordeman, Matthew West, and Casting Crowns' Mark Hall at the Story Tour, we volunteer at Vacation Bible School, we organize the annual church-wide Easter Egg Hunt, we plan the Easter Sunrise Service, we organized an Open-mic Night, etc. We also have two fantastic retreats every year, HEB Camp in the middle of summer, and Mid-winter mid-winter, plus several lock-ins that are all without a doubt worth attending!
